Amateur Theatre To Be Included in ‘The Rule of Six’

More Covid restrictions were announced for the UK today as the infection rate rises across the country. The Culture Secretary Oliver Dowden has confirmed an update to the prior guidance for safely producing amateur theatre productions.

The new rules that come into force on Thursday 24 September 2020 state that amateur theatre productions and choirs will not be allowed if they have more than six individuals involved.

Prior to today’s announcement, groups had been exempt from ‘the rule of six’ which was announced by the Government last week. Other amateur groups affected by the rules include sports and leisure teams however professional productions that adhere to social distancing will still be allowed to go ahead.
