Covid-19 Update

by | May 27, 2020

I hope you are all managing to keep safe and well during the pandemic. I know many of us are isolated for lots of different reasons and I can speak for me personally when I say that watching pantomimes online and keeping in touch with the panto community and friends I’ve made with other creative team members and cast members has been getting me through difficult days.

I’ve been trying to stay productive in lockdown by updating my website and finishing my Peter Pan script. I’ve also been updating all of my scripts with new material and gags and I’ve been working on template artwork for all of my available scripts so that you can get professional title art and and brilliant eye catching poster, for a fraction of the price of employing a graphic designer.

I’ve had lots of companies asking a few questions about what will happen this season for pantomimes, and at the moment, the honest answer is that no one really knows. However, lockdown is the ideal time to be reading scripts and putting plans in place for your 2020/21 pantomime season. As a result I’ve decided to outline my policy for licensing pantomime scripts during the pandemic.

Covid-19 Licensing Policy

All script licenses will be valid for the performance dates applied for, however if your company decides to postpone their production to a later date due to the Covid-19 pandemic all you need to do is notify me of the new dates. I will then perform the normal availability checks to ensure no nearby company is performing the same script, and subject to those checks the new dates will be approved. There will be no additional charge towards changing the dates of the production.

My priority is that you are able to perform my pantomime script in the best way possible for your group. This involves using your judgement on the safest and most appropriate way to perform and working with your venue to ensure your production is able to go ahead in adherence with the latest guidance from the UK Government.

This policy will be in place until the UK Government ends the status of pandemic. License your next pantomime script now.

Online Readings and Performances

Some of you have been in touch to ask whether it is possible for you to read through scripts virtually using zoom or similar conferencing software. I am very happy for readings of individual scripts like this to take place as long as the following criteria are met:

  • That you contact me in advance of the event, and invite me to take part as a viewer or participant – I love to see how much fun you’re having with my scripts and am always looking for tweaks and improvements where possible.
  • That the reading is a private event and is not broadcast or available to view by the general public.
  • That no money is taken as part of the process of the reading.

If you have any further questions about the Covid-19 situation, or you’d like to talk to me about my pantomime scripts, or writing a bespoke script for your production, please get in touch. You can give me a ring on 07542 473 070 or email me on [email protected].

Stay safe and may you have many happy pantomime-filled hours of fun!

Alex
