Synopsis

Fall down the rabbit hole and into the most wonderfully mad pantomime adventure you’ve ever seen! Join the curious and courageous Alice as she tumbles into Wonderland, a topsy-turvy world of talking creatures, outrageous riddles, and very important tea parties.

With the ever-anxious White Rabbit, the mischievous Cheshire Cat, and the wonderfully unhinged Mad Hatter leading the chaos, there’s never a dull moment. But the wickedly temperamental Queen of Hearts has other ideas, and with a stolen recipe, a royal trial, and cries of “Off with their heads!” echoing around the palace, Alice will need all her wits to survive.

Packed with slapstick silliness, belly laughs, and audience shout-outs galore, the irrepressible pantomime dame Victoria Sponge keeps things deliciously funny from start to finish. Whether you’re five or ninety-five, this curiouser and curiouser pantomime is a feast of fun for the whole family!

Alice in Wonderland Pantomime Script Extract

TWEEDLEDUM and TWEEDLEDEE enter.

T’DUM Look who it is, Tweedledee!

T’DEE Who is it Tweedledum?

T’DUM I don’t know, I was hoping you’d tell me.

ALICE sobs.

T’DEE Are you okay, miss?

T’DUM What are those drops falling from your eyes?

ALICE tries to pull herself together.

ALICE Me? Oh, I’m fine. Just a little stuck. I’ve lost my way.

T’DEE I lost my way once.

T’DUM Did you?

T’DEE I did, indeed, I did.

T’DUM You did? When was that?

T’DEE Just the other day. I was trying to find the corner shop.

T’DUM You were trying to find the corner shop?

T’DEE Yeah. But I kept going round in circles.

ALICE giggles reluctantly.

T’DUM Never suppress a smile, Miss.

T’DEE Never!

T’DUM I’ve got an idea!

T’DEE Is this about the German sausages?

T’DUM Nah, that was the wurst.

SFX Joke sting

T’DEE That joke was the worst.

T’DUM Don’t blame me, I didn’t write this rubbish.

T’DEE Do you know what I think?

T’DUM What?

TWEEDLEDEE points at TWEEDLEDUM with his finger.

T’DEE I think the person at the end of this finger is stupid.

T’DUM Really? Which end?

T’DEE I’m not saying you’re stupid. But in a restaurant last week the manager asked us if we minded waiting for a bit and you picked up an apron and started taking drinks orders.

T’DUM At least I know how a car works. When we filled up with petrol on the way here, the attendant asked “Super Unleaded?” and you replied “Unleaded please. Soup will damage the engine.”

ALICE You two are funny.
