Have a read of these common queries. If you have any questions that aren’t answered here, get in touch with me.
Browse the full list of scripts to discover their plots and characters details. Then request your free perusal copy and I will email it to you (usually within 24 hours). The free perusal copies are provided to prospective producers for reading only and cannot be used for auditions, rehearsals or performances without a signed, paid and confirmed licence.
Yes, I need all the details requested on the perusal form in order to provide you with a perusal copy.
This is to insure against productions of my scripts taking place without a licence in place.
In short: no. Until a licence has been applied for, paid, signed and confirmed by Alex Jackson Pantomimes, you may not use any materials from the scripts for auditions, rehearsals or performances of any kind.
Most licences can be turned around very quickly – often within a few days. However if you applying to perform Peter Pan within the UK please allow more time for your additional licence application to Concord Theatricals who own the underlying rights to the title.

If you are planning to film your production in whole or part, you need to choose a licence production package that includes the video licence. This includes but is not limited to:
Wording within your production licence details how the recording may be used once made.
Licence fees are calculated based on the maximum potential seating capacity of a venue per performance. You can then choose a production package depending on your requirements. Fees start at £45 per performance and are detailed in full here.
Yes – if you’d like to make changes to your script, make sure you request the Silver, Gold or Platinum production package which all include an editable word doc. version of the script. Then you can edit and make adjustments as required for your production. Please note the additional crediting requirements for changes as detailed in your licence agreement.
In addition to your Alex Jackson Pantomimes licence, as producer you are responsible for all other licences that are required in order to put on a production. Depending on the requirements for your production, these might include:
Peter Pan: An additional licence is required to perform Peter Pan in the UK which covers fees due to Great Ormond Street Hospital on behalf of the J. M. Barrie estate who donate all fees to the hospital in perpetuity. Further details are available on the Peter Pan script page and within the perusal script.
Music licences: most music is covered by PPL/PRS (they are not the fastest at replying so leave extra time to get in touch with them). For some music you may need to contact individual copyright owners for permission, these often include Disney songs, songs from Grease the musical and ABBA.
Chaperone & Youth performance licences: if you have children in your production, it is likely you’ll need to seek permissions from the local authority that has jurisdiction over the performance venue for them to perform, and Chaperone licences for any adults that are responsible for looking after them.
Production licences: some local authorities require productions to apply for a licence for any public performance to take place.
Public/Employers Liability Insurance: All productions should invest in public and if relevant employers liability insurance to ensure that everyone involved is insured in order to perform their role on stage and off stage.
The total capacity is calculated by working out the total potential number of seats on sale per performance not the total number of seats you predict you will sell. Please head over to my licence and fees page which includes full details how to calculate a performance licence.
A “performance” means any instance in which the pantomime script is staged, presented, or read aloud before an audience that includes members of the public, whether or not admission is charged. For the avoidance of doubt, anyone not part of the cast, crew, creative team, or venue staff is deemed a member of the public, and any dress rehearsal attended by such persons shall constitute a Performance.
Of course! Let your imagination run wild. And if you can’t or don’t want to design your own, my Gold and Platinum production packages come with a range of template sizes based on my poster artwork.
